About Ellis Parrinder
Ellis has been capturing memorable images of some of the world’s most recognised people and faces for more than two decades.
Northern England born and bred, Ellis moved to London to pursue his photography dream in the mid 90s. He started his career photographing bands and music artists, making a name for himself thanks to working with the likes of Coldplay, Faithless and Morrissey.
Ellis’ creative flair and ability to put his subject at ease quickly made him a popular choice of photographer with the UK’s leading publications including The Observer Magazine, The Times, Time Out, ES and Attitude. He also worked for BAFTA throughout 2009 as their ‘in-residence’ photographer where he captured now iconic images of Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep and Sharon Stone.
Twenty years, and thousands of magazine shoots, album covers and portraits later, Ellis moved to Sydney in 2011 and quickly established himself in the Australian market.
Ellis shot brand advertising campaigns for the Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company and Commonwealth Bank along with editorial lifestyle shoots for leading Australian magazines including Sunday Style, Weekend Australian and the Good Weekend. He also had two significant group portrait commissions in Australia, one which saw him travel around the globe shooting the world’s leading chefs.
Now happily back in London with his husband Matt, Ellis can be found (obsessively) photographing his three-year old French bulldog Frank in between editorial and commercial shoots and his own projects.
